Joshua the Architect
Joshua has been a friend of mine since my freshman year of college. We had many of the same classes together, and late nights working on studio projects provided an excellent time to bond. Toward the end of freshan year our academic paths diverged, he went on to architecture, and I to industrial design. When I first began polling people for this project he was one of the first to volunteer.
The Setup:
For this portrait, I used a simple to light two light setup. The key light was a 600W strobe positioned to the right of the subject. The key light was positioned roughly a foot in front of the subject to create a very subtle rembrandt effect.
Base Exposure:
After importing the photos I realized that the initial exposure was somewhat dark, so my first step was some exposure correction. Retouching was fairly minimal on this portrait (exposure correction, lens correction, and basic color balance).
All in all, it was a really enjoyable evening, and a fun way to begin this project. The final image is posted below.
